Citroen Supercar To Tackle The Ring

Gran Turismo concept car to kick-off Nurburgring 24 Hours

Citroen’s computer game inspired GT sports car is to finally take to the track this weekend at the Nürburgring 24 Hours race.

Unfortunately, the Paris Motor Show concept won’t be competing, but it will perform a lap of honour around the legendary ‘Green Hell’ race track before the start of Saturday’s race.

Initially designed to feature in the fifth version of the video game Gran Turismo, company bosses have already been speaking of a limited production run of the aggressively styled concept, with as many as 20 real Citroen GT supercars making production.

Citroen will also take the GT to Le Mans for the epic 24 Hours where it will line up with a host of other supercars during the presentation of the 150 drivers and 50 teams at the ‘Grande Parade des Pilotes’.

The GT’s last outing will be to cruise up the hill at the Goodwood Festival of Speed giving spectators the chance to see the French firm’s first ever supercar.

I would love them to make that a production car. Not because I want one, but because I love the lunacy of the thing.

There should be more cars like that in the world. Just total batst styling. Makes me feel like an 8-year-old boy again. biggrin

Surely they could find a few people that would, and surely worth putting a few on the road for the 'halo' effect it would have on the rest of the range. Would probably shift more C1's and C2's than the companys current involvement in WRC.

The Citroen SM maserati sold well enough back in the 1970's. I think if they put a decent engine in it, like a 500BHP V8 out of a corvette some large Brembo brakes and the latest version of their own fluid suspension then people would buy it.

Given repeated world rally championships they know how to build an engine and a car that goes and lasts. Whether they choose apply that technology is another thing.

They could always detune the diesel motor out of a peugot LM car, would be a decent bit of PR and show the world that they can still make quirky fun cars

Beautiful! Do the French actually have a SuperCar-Engine, though? Renualt V-6? Was the old F1 V10 unit ever self-sufficient enough to live in a supercar?
