Behind the wheel, it only takes a momentary concentration lapse to put you in situation where you really do not want to be.

Circumstances like this serve as a harsh reminder that driving is a constant learning process.

No matter how good you are, no matter how much experience you have, there is always a situation that can come from nowhere and bite you on the bum when you least expect it.

Dire consequences can result, as I know to my cost. It was only yesterday and I know I’ll be beating myself up about it for months to come. I really am ashamed to admit such a stupid, stupid mistake, not to mention bloody annoyed with myself.

I’m devastated and emotionally drained, such is the burden on my mind and conscience. It’s going to take a long time to recover from this.

How could I have been so lax, how could I have failed to anticipate this, how could I have let a caravan overtake me?

You were actually stationary at the time? Only plausible explanation.Unless said caravan had been fired from a cannon?

To my credit, I drafted him nicely, put in a slingshot move and caught him whilst he was wide at the apex.

He was gutted at me rubbing mirrors with him at 45mph.

Sniff my LPG loser!!!

Better to have him in front of you where you can keep an eye on him, rather than having him sneak up the rear.
