Just had a admittedly a decent quote from adrian Flux
Insurane to be done by alliance and leicester but the one thing i don't get by most insurance companies is hwo they can justify charging interest if someone pays monthly?!

In fact unless I am missing something they are not within rights to do so. I was quoted 14.5% interest if i chose to pay monthly but wait a minute. the 1.6k per year that they quoting me for is NOt their money! They are not losing out because they are lending me money, nor are they giving me something in advance. If i stopped paying them, they will sure as hell will stop insuring me, so it's not like they are using it to cover the risk of me stopping the cover mid term.

how can they do this? vodafone does nto hcarge me interest just because i choose not to pay them for the full 18 months of my contract in advance. neither does BT, or my health insurance nor my dental insurace. so what the fk is up?

on the flipside, if the status quo was no-added-cost monthly payments, would you not expect a discount for upfront payment?

The Flux will still beat it. Keep bouncing back and forth.

Yeah definitely. As you get lower down their Price Bracket and near their baseline they may ask you to prove it though, so take Screen Grabs or get an email Quote. What I tend to do is just have a generic password for these Price Comparison sites so I just let them have a look themselves at my quotes. Of course... it is unlikely they are going to check every last detail of the Quote wink

Exactly. And... on the whole, they are extremely helpful as well.
