Crying when selling a car
Discussion
Some people get very emotionally attached to their car. When I sold my first Swift, KD06 VZT I was very upset, I loved that car!! I got back in to the showroom after the handover and a customer gave me a huuuggg. It was needed medicine.
BTW I owned that swift, it wasnt a demo. But having just started in the trade, there was no point in owning my own car when I got given one. There was no opt out either.

When I bought my first E34 the owning family were upset when they waved goodbye. I couldn't see why.
When I sold it I was actually really sad to see it go. Such comfort and I loved the looks.
Now, after a couple of other cars, I have another and I just love it. I smile every time I drive it and it's got character. Hopefully it will last many years as I really wouldn't want to part with it.
More modern cars I just don't feel the love for.

I sold my Impreza last August - it had been my pride and joy and i'd spent a fair few quid modifying it. I'd also taken it to a lot of SIDC events around Scotland.
I'd had it for 3 and a half years and that along with being made redundant and becoming a father within a short space of time meant it needed to go.
I wasn't bothered seeing it driving out of the street but the Mrs was in tears. Wasn't even her car!

i remember being more than just a little excited when i sold my first car as it was looking the best it ever had done plus i made a healthy profit on it.
I did however feel very sad and it nearly brought a tear seeing the car in the scrap heap just 3months later completely ruined :-( That really hurt, espeically as there were 99% of the parts still on it but it was part of a fiesta sandwich so most bits were unaccessible.

The RX-8 goes at the end of the week - to be replaced with an Elise 111R. I'm not going to cry, or anthropomorphise the car, but I must confess that although I'm really looking forward to the new car, I do feel a little pang of regret every time I look at the old one sat on the drive. I think I've got more attached to it than any previous car I've owned. Odd.
I wouldn't say that I'd cry when I sold a car. I will however admit to becoming (irrationally) attached to a car. I’ve still got the E53 X5 that used to be my wife’s daily drive and our sensible family car for a couple of years. Already replaced it with a new shape X5 for the wife and family use but never got round to selling it. It’s getting old now, looks dated, is regularly needing pounds spending on repairs (£750 last week), isn’t very quick or economical, is much less comfy than the newer X5, lacks things like bluetooth, satnav and xenons and I drive it less than 50 miles a week. There’s no sensible basis at all to keep it. However for some stupid reason I’m quite attached to it. Perhaps because I used it to bring my son home from hospital when he was born, perhaps because it was used for quite a few family holidays with my little lad. For some reason don’t want to part with it.
