Just toying with the idea of selling a few cars, not as a means to earning a living, but, just as a little aside.

I’ve looked around (I’m sure I read a thread about it on here sometime), but, does anybody know what it would entail to become a “proper dealer”?

And what sort of pitfalls are there, paying tax and the like?

I feel a little odd asking, but any sort of advice would be much appreciated.

David

PS. Please feel free to move this thread if someone thinks there’s a more appropriate place for it

Do you not take p/x? Surely this is a good place to get cars from?

If I could buy all of the p/x I take through work I would be a very wealthy man...

By selling motorcars for more than you bought them for?

In the UK there's no such thing as a 'registered dealer', and as you've mentioned you just have to run it like any other business and pay tax/VAT as necessary.
