On Saturday morning I went to get into my car to drive to the shops to collect the breakfast essentials; however I noticed that the car was covered in flies and wasps. There must have been in excess of 200 of the buggers, it was horrible. I then noticed that the other car on driveway was the same. I have no idea why, and I couldn’t see a wasps net around any where are as far as I am aware there is nothing dead or rotting near by.

So I went to get the car washed as I thought it might have had something to do with tree sap, as the driveway is over hung by next doors huge oak tree. However an hour later they had returned.
Does anyone know why they are attached to the car? And how I can stop them?

Moose.

Likewise.. car is parked under a tree. Are they attracted to the sap?

Don't put yourself down fella.

I'd go with that explanation too

They think shiny blue and black cars are water. Flies and wasps drink quite regularly from open water - wasps especially when they're building nests.

There is a pheasant (that should be WAS) that used to roam around my work car park and peck at his reflection on anything shiny.
