Around the world......

Just having a lunch time daydream and.....
If you hit the jackpot and no longer had to work or worry about money ever again, and decided to go off on a 12-18 month road trip around the world with the missis/husband. What car would you take? You would be looking at 25-40k miles i imagine.
It would have to be fun on some of those amazing roads you would take in, then a mile muncher for places like America's highways. Your not worried about mpg but it has to be reasonably robust i would'nt want to be often stopping for breakdowns.
Personally i would'nt have a problem with a 2 seater or convertable but the only car i can think of is a BMW M5 coup, fettled a little bit...
Suggestions?

I think the amount of amazing roads versus mile munching would be small, so I'd go for a Merc 190E otherwise the trip would be utterly spoiled. You're bound to find parts and someone to fix it wherever you go in the world, it could probably deal with some gravel roads and is probably quite cheap to run.

Thats the car that first sprang to my mind.... but its a little too close to reality. A friend does trips around the UK in his.So.... thinking outside the litter box for moment... I'd like to take the.... Rover P6 3500S Estate
In all seriousness I dont have a clue - friday brain fade.
right this thread is not going where i expected. You have just won 5 Billion pounds. You can get serivce and repairs but scant dealer networks like zonda are no good. I'm thinking grand tour, opposed to just striking a line east and flattening mountains. No diesels either! Aspire more people!

So 70's Rolls Corniche or MAN truck complete with garage containing an R400/Bowler Wildcat*
*Obviously you have a man to drive the truck while you drive whatever best suits the terrain.
