Don't think i'll ever take my car onto those roads, bloody hell...

i was there in january and the first night i was there,i was heading down towards the kremlin. The traffic is really bad so loads of cars just turn around and head up the wrong carriage-way-flat out with hazards on to make it ok.
It was breath taking to watch as you are expecting a major crass at any time.
There seems to be only 2 ways to drive, and thats flat out or flat out.

Dismal. Cars on the wrong sides of roads, cars jumping reds, cars stopped in the middle of multi-lane carriageways, changing lanes with no notice, cars going way too fast through intersections, cars without lights on, cars just apparently coming from no direction at huge speed across 8 lanes of traffic not even heading towards a road. Shocking lack of awareness a lot of it if you ask me!
I have been to Russia Twice, Yes, the driving standards make Dick Dastardly look tame!
As an aside, I Asked a Russian back in 2001 about Car insurance, his response was
“Not need insurance, if crash, call police, police come, look at crash and decided who make crash and say to driver, You pay”

Ahem...
...I hope you guys don't think this sort of thing stays in Russia.
Just last Friday, I saw a Russian friend of mine who's now living in the UK. Even bearing in mind that he'd never officially been a driver in Russia (he was only 14 when he came to the UK), he can't understand that you can't drive like that in this country.
Some of the things he's done in the UK are simply unbelievable - to post everything on here would probably take hours - and he's only 20 years old...but the latest really takes some beating!

Now you're thinking "Well there's nothing too extraordinary there", but consider this: He'd owned it less than an hour. Luckily, he hit the back of a stationary Transit tipper at a roundabout - both drivers are fine and this time, my friend had insurance (which, even before this episode had cost him over £2,000 TPFT for less than an hour of driving).
He simply doesn't understand that trying to reach the car's maximum speed (with zero driver talent) absolutely everywhere is going to guarantee things like this. He thinks it's unlucky that he's banned from driving in the past, written several cars off, crashed even more and gets laughed at by insurers, when in reality he's lucky to be alive, let alone capable of walking on his own two feet.
The simple facts are that he needs to grow a up, grow a pair, change his attitude to driving and learn to drive properly before even looking at a performance car. But of course he can't see this.
Normally, I'd have wanted nothing more to do with him after the first time he acted like a complete moron, but I do know that he has it in him to be a decent person and he has a genuine love of cars. I'm just currently at a loss as to what exactly to say to him and what to do to try to stop him before he kills himself and/or other people and/or ends-up in prison.
Constructive thoughts and advice would be appreciated.
