Was talking about this subject earlier (yes in the pub!) Found this issue wasn't as simple as it sounds. What would be your choice and why? (I expect this thread has probably done before - expect roasting!)

Hmmm... A good allrounder would be required by me. If just one car, I would need to lug around my missus and kids with some luggage for a weekend away. For other times when my right foot feels heavy, I'd want it to go properly. I think a BMW M5 Touring would fit the bill here.

Yes you could have one of those for doing the taxi run but what car would YOU have?

Edited to say that you can have any car you want. I you have unlimited funds you can have all the cars your family needs,(you may not have a family).. but what car would you buy for yourself!

Can see your point, and I wouldn't want a Porsche but I would like one of these:

Unlimited funds, but two of you would choose an Estate car from a mass manufacturer?

As good as the M5 and RS6 are, if I had unlimited funds, I wouldn't buy one.

The RS4/6 is plenty cool/fast/practical enough for me. If I was to get a 2 seater I'd get one of these.

If I had unlimited funds, I wouldn't even need to consider my choice; I'd be straight on the interweb looking for a 288 GTO, none of this family taxi malarkey.

Bentley Blower.

One of the most impressive cars around, and fairly sprightly for its age.

Either that or a Cizeta.
