First 'Official' Pics: Audi R8 Spyder

Images of Audi's Frankfurt show-stopper leaked

'Official' images of the new Audi R8 Spyder have been 'unnofficially leaked' via a US website, just days before Audi prepares to unveil the car in the metal at the Frankfurt motor show next week.

The new images - presumably intended as R8 Spyder press hand-outs or brochure shots - show this exciting new machine in an interesting shade of chocolate brown. Pending any official information, we can see from the pics that the car's styling has moved on a little with a new design for the air intakes on the rear flanks - the coupe's exposed aluminium 'side-blades' obviously having been deleted. However the R8 Spyder does get a naked aluminium windscreen frame, and we know there's a fabric hood stowed beneath that twin-podded rear deck.

It all looks good to us, and the Spyder should go well too with the only engine offering being the 525hp, 5.2-litre V10 that Audi recently pinched from Lamborghini to upgrade the R8 Coupe.

We'll bring you more from the show next week...

Wow, that looks absolutely fantastic!

That bit behind the headrests where the hood is presumably stored looks spot on.

OMG - Had a poo this morning that shade of brown!laugh

In all seriousness it does look wonderful - I am trying to imagine it in white and it seems like it would look excellent - Can't wait until the neighbour gets his!!

Not special enough, looks like a TT.

I'd still have one, possibly in white though.

Yep-the colour "not to be seen in" in a 1970's British Leyland 1100/1300/Maxi etc (usually with the fetchingly named "Autumn Leaf" interior....in vinyl of course !)

I quite like the colour too actually. It looks good, and i agree with the vents behind the headrests. Really did a good job on that area. A bloody nice engine in that as well smile

Hmmm, looks like a 2 seater A4 if you ask me. I love the R8, but something about that just doesn't 'grab' me.

Mmmmm, browntastic. Wonder if the interior can be ordered in velour. biggrin

Thing is, this will be called something like "Chocolate Stardust" whereas British Leyland would have called it "Suspicious Stain."

Idd, I love it, and for the price it almost looks as good as the LP560 Spyder

Me neither, was never a fan of it on the A4 cabrio either...

Still, it's a lovely motor - Frankfurt 09 must be the tastiest motorshow for unveilings in ages biggrin
