Mansory Keeps It Loud At Frankfurt

Bavarian customisers not content just to 'blend in'...

Coachbuilder Mansory is not known for the subtlety of its custom conversions, and its stand at Frankfurt certainly upheld that reputation. A selection of bonkers-looking cars ranging from the kitsch to the extreme sat on a pristine white floor vying for the attention of busy punters, but a few particularly stood out to us.

This totally exposed full-carbon bodied Aston DBS is what Mansory calls the 'Cyrus' and, with its vast extended wheel arches, big spoiler and deep carbon diffuser, it looks more than a little like the DBR9 race car.

Rather more unique is the significantly changed front end, with a redesigned bonnet and much deeper all-carbon grille flanked by One-77-style air intakes. Polished off with suitably severe grey 10-spoke alloys, the Cyrus looks pretty serious, though we don't know much about what's different under its nude carbon skin. Mansory's website mentions coilover suspension and a lot of fast-sounding adjectives, but thus far that's all we know.

Aspiring Lady Penelopes may have been more attracted to the shameless bubblegum-pink 'Vitesse Rose', Mansory's take on the Bentley Continental GT Speed (surely destined to star in a rap video near you).

Deep bumpers and skirts bring the Benters into much closer acquaintance with the ground, and huge black intakes in the redesigned front bumper pick up the darker highlights from the - you guessed it - carbon bonnet and mesh grille. Did Mansory accidentally over-order on this stuff?

The Bavarians also brought along their modified Ferrari 599 from last year's show rounds, complete with its mad 720bhp supercharged V12 and Ostrich-hide interior.

In this company, it looked almost discreet...

Hmm, it's a bit like they've taken good cars, then used them as the basis to make cars that look st.

If I were from Aston or Bentley I'd be straight round there asking them to remove the original badges, if not the whole cars, from the stands due to the sheer hideousness and dilution of the brands.

No doubt once she's paid for her divorce Jordan will soon be seen pootling around in the Bentley.

The Bentley is hideous, but the Aston is quite nice, bar the red trim on the interior. Wouldn't say no to that 599.

as their customers might say "word!"

mansory in not fecking something up royally shocker. the reason it works though is because the standard DBS has something of the 'go faster' about it already...

Wasn't there one of those 'stallone' 599's for sale on here not so long ago... but LHD! The aston is a bit of waste IMO.. bit too much especially for what they'd charge for it. And the Bentley... WHAT THE FcensoredK IS THAT!!!!??? The design spec must have been titled "Worst EVER design and colour scheme for a GT, and try and make people vomit wherever possible" ... IDIOTS!shoot

I agree, if the DBS didn't exist and they had done that to a DB9 there would be more people disliking it.

Gotta be honest though, I think its quite nice and reminds me bit of the Reventon. The DBS is already slightly "Halfords" especially inside (seat logo's, massive gearknob etc) so it works OK. Not particularly offended by the 599 either, but that Conti is 'clearly' fecking awful as I'msure they are well aware, but it does its job of attracting attention.

I'm embarrased to admit that I actually quite like this.

Have they recruited a new designer?

I think they asked Porsche fettlers Khan to help them out a bit, I believe someone in the motor industry once said "KHAN really know their (there?) sh@" and this has now been clearly proven. I'm sure that Bentley's for WAG's and or hairdressers it just looks a bit like something Mattel's Hot Wheels when they were trying to modernise in the 90's!

Actually, the Aston is gorgeous.

They've probably fired theguy that did it for not towing the company line.

My first thoughts when I see crap like this are that no-one out there buys this sort of car... ever.

But where do companies like Mansory get their cash from? It must cost a fair whack to buy those cars then do all that work, so some idiot somewhere must be buying these! Eurgh.

The question that should really be asked is not why they're building / styling these abominations but who buys them?
