Hey guys. My 17 year old cousin will hopefully pass his test very soon. He has £3.5k to spend, which also includes insurance. I have run through the typical small engined cars such as corsa, saxo, 106, fiesta with him but I think something different would suit him more, but im not sure what. It has to be cheap to insure, run and repair should the worst happen.

Suggestions please!

Defender...Or a Mini (the original type)

You have to "Drive" these cars...if that makes sense...

Cheap and relatively easy to repair smile.

Plenty of people out there willing to help from specialist car clubs/forums too...

(Please don't view my Profile as you will see I am very biased wink)

If you can still get a classic policy at that age then an old ford. Anglia Escort or Cortina. Reliable enough if you're happy to tinker.

How about an old 2CV?

If that new one they are meant to be launching becomes a sucess a classic may be a bit of a gold mine as well.
