E32s are cracking old land yachts! My old may had a '35, it was Calypso metallic with beige leather, loved it...remember it being a hoot when the box was a "sport" mode too, used to shift well for a big 'un!

If it were me (and at the moment it isn't... I'm skint ) I'd be searching for E36 6 cyl BMW's and MK1 MX5's. Possibly even an MR2 or two or maybe even a V8 5 or 7 series if I wanted something with an autobox. An old Merc maybe? Don't know much about those unfortunately.

If I wanted a real project, I'd be looking for a cheap V12 XJS, but £1000 is just the purchase price. You'd need another few grand to get it to work right. Still, could be a laff if its got tax and MOT etc.

Jeremy Clarkson bought a Mitsubishi Starion for £1500 a few years back, reckon that'd be worth a go... if you can find one.

I know it's advertised for £1199, but some good haggling would get it for a grand. Have had two of these as a second car and they are an absolute hoot to drive and fantastic around town. They do have atendancy to go through head gaskets though.
