Just had an email offering minniscule discounts on very expensive private number plates, It also states that the DVLA will make £80 million from No 10 plates,
What the f*"#k do they do with the money.

Their online serice has been down twice in the last 6 weeks ,both times for 5 days ( for essential maintenance )
For f##k's sake a private company would be bankrupt with that amount of downtime, and when you try to complain online - "sorry we could not procces your request", a#se holes

There are many one armed lesbians who need IVF to pay for, there is translation required for every document the govt publish, there are numerous IT projects. There is no end to what this waste of space incompetent and frankly traitorous Govt will p**s away your tax money on.

I know I shouldn't be, but I'm just pleased you are looking for a woman with a pulse.....;-)

And I guess you must be looking at the wrong websites....

No, I don't know if there is some form of one-armed lesbian appreciation website/club but hell, just about everything else is on the web so it's a possibility there is one somewhere. And no, please don't post up a link if I'm, by a slim chance, right about the existence of such a site

I think you'll find that the money goes into the Treasury and helps prevent everyone paying even more income tax to provide hospitals, police services, schemes like motability, etc...

Sorry if you think that it's unreasonable that your vanity costs you a lot of money, but take it to the Daily Mail website if you just want to bleat on about your political view...

Now if all the money that vanished into HM's Bottomless Treasury was actually SPENT on hospitals, police services, schemes like motability etc - we'd all have our very own hospital, school and motability scooter...

But mostly it goes on salaries, final salary pensions and benefits.

Luckily my car came with a valid number plate on both ends, so there was no need for me to pay the DVLA any more.

[dailywail]This. What a complete waste of money. If you've made your way to the UK, legally or otherwise, congratulations! If you haven't all ready, learn English; the language of Shakespeare, Marlowe and more pertinently modern shipping, commerce, aviation, and radiocommunications. If that does not interest you, the door's over there.[/dailywail]

+1

Far too much money spent translating and on translators.

On another forum I recently read a post from somebody was boasting about their new number plate purchase. It was quite a good match for their nickname, but not really anything anybody else would really want.

They bought it at a sealed bid DVLA auction, and here's the kicker, since it wasn't due for normal release they requested that the DVLA enter it into the auction. It went in with a reserve of £250 and they bid over £1,000 rofl Needless to say they won, but I don't think they understood how sealed bid auctions worked.

my dad has been after a plate for 30 years, it was never issued. i rang up about it and they said the'd put it in seald bid auction, which he was happy with, starting @ £250... we receive the paperwork, lo an behold, a starting price of £300... nice easy £50 for the dvla, plus fees! i want another un-released plate, same as his except for the first digit, but dotn want to be stung for £450 after fees frown

You seem to forget how much investment went in hospitals , schools and so on . I can remember when I was 14 we had to bring our own footballs for PE , studied with buckets 2 ft away from me and so on . I recently been to my old school and now , its all brand new with gates , 3 new buildings and brand new dedicated IT room , music room , art room and so on . Hospitals the same , they do look much better . Im still not convinced that they provide better services but not sure if its anything do with the government .

Easy - change your name to match your car's registration number. How much does a deed poll cost?

Vanity/private plates are an idiot tax which I wholeheartedly support. Thanks to all the morons who have bought them for subsidising my tax burden. Please continue.
