Sold a car on ebay 6 days ago and despite requesting a deposit within 24hrs have heard nothing concrete that he will collect.

This is the sequence of events.

Sold Monday lunchtime
Invoice sent Monday evening
Rang Tuesday evening after hearing nothing - said he plans to collect towards the weekend.
Emailled Thursday to understand the day he will collect. No reply.
Re-emailled Saturday asking what his plans are and can he leave a deposit and if he does not reply I will be forced to send an unpaid item strike. He replied saying he will contact me Sunday (today). Still no reply.

How long is it reasonable to leave before you send the ebay unpaid item strike? Have I been too pushy? I get the impression he bidded, forgot, won it and now regrets it!

I did, for weeks, but to no avail.

More messers here to be honest, but at least no one agreed to actually buy it!

6 days is more than long enough. Report and readvertise.

What are you selling?

There are some odd people about. My dad had a similar with a laptop bought by a girl with 0 feedback. She then asked if it would work with her bluetooth dongle confused and after a couple more silly questions (that she should have asked *before* bidding) there were no comms for a week. Then when my dad hassled her she said she had only just found the P.O. which must have been delayed in the post. Didn't seem to occur to her that if she had posted it already then it wouldn't have been around for her to find...

Needless to say no further comms, followed by non paying bidder report filed.

Why bid if you don't want to buy? Some people are just stupid.

yep got a good price for it in the end. Sold to a mate from work, but tempted to get it back at some point as I do miss it.

The 530 is great but much thirstier around town and on short runs.

I'd move on. Now.
If he was serious he'd have been a bit keener.

As above just be prepared to be negged, I did this a while ago he then Neutral feedbacked me for being "a strange man" yes indeed it seems strange to want someone to keep to their word and collect the item they bought.

On a side note email me across details of the car, I may be interested.

Friend of mine 'sold' 2 cars recently on ebay, a MR2 and an old proton, the MR2 was about £500 and the proton was about £200 (with 6 months tax & test!)

Both had brand new members win the auctions and neither of them collected the cars or responded to any correspondence frown

Sorry for the 'no show' but it happens, especially if the buyers have zero rating. Best bet is make it a condition that a non-returnable deposit is made by PayPal within 24 hours of the end of the auction / or transaction fully completed within a cerain timescale, otherwise deal null and void and you set about selling thew item again. There are some really stupid wasters out there.

I 'sold' a Mini for 12k.. to a bidder from Mauritius. An accidental bid apparently banghead

Sold within days to a very nice man who'd not been able to view the car during the auction, so it all worked out ok anyway.
Just file a non-paying report and relist it - you'll get all your fees back from the first auction anyway. Happens a lot from what I've heard. It's still less hassle than trying to get through the new autotrader website.
