Actually most of the grit comes from Irish Rocksalt in Carrick, Co. Antrim.

what amazed me when i first started driving gritters was the sheer size of area to be covered by each local authority! it also surprised me that they unload from the rear axle up to the cab, resulting in terrifying oversteer without warning!!!
