The the AA insurance site - you may have to put some details in there, but IIRC there is a reg checker on there somewhere when you put your car details in. Doesn't always work though, not sure that it likes all personalised registrations.

My first car has been written off! So has my old Citroën!!
I see my old mk 3 Cavalier is still going, though. Bet it's had a fair bit of welding on it by now!!!

A3 still exists, too.
Used to see this regularly, about 15 years ago, on an old white granada estate plastered with dunlop stickers.
