Went into local Tesco with family today to get a few bits.
Thought better get some fuel & checked price on way in 107.9 ppl, went to get some on way out 20 minutes later 110.9ppl !!!!!!

Every little helps so I queued at sainsburys opposite and paid less. Tesco have obviously lost all their xmas spirit and had taken down all the xmas decorations and replaced shelves with Fecking Easter eggs!!

I was reading in the news earlier that Tesco have gradually been increasing prices on items in the run up to the VAT increase. I guess they have decided to do the same with pertol and rake in a few extra pennies for their coffers.

When the VAT decrease came into effect did the treasury not put the equivalent
amount of duty onto fuel so as not too lose out on tax revenue?
So if I'm correct shirley there is no need for the price of fuel to go up!!

Maybe theyve changed the price on the big signs (in the daylight, not at midnight), but the pumps are the old vat rate price?

(whispers) i think they're trying to point out there is no fking chance

the vat decrease was partly just a way to pass through an unpopular tax increase on fuel that they'd been putting off for a while

The Tesco in Kidsgrove is always 2-3p more per litre than anywhere else "local". Their definition of local price matching only extends to about 3/4 mile, but there are is an Asda, 2 Sainsburys and a Morrisons within 3-4 miles.

Their normal unleaded is the same price as V-Power at the Shell 5 miles away!

Out of interest, are Tesco still doing the 5p off per litre with any purchase over £50? Coincidence, or conspiracy?

To the bloke who mentioned Kidsgrove. Shell opposite Festival Park on the A53 is almost always the cheapest petrol in the area.

In the petrol rises in 2008 it was the cheapest place by far (atleast 5p) to get Vpower or any higher octane fuel for that matter. At the highest point I were paying 122.9 per litre. The shell down the road in Mier was 127.9. Was there yesterday and normal unleaded was 103.9 where Tescos Longton was 107.9.

Some folks pay tourist prices, some folks pay something
more realistic.

I filled up with petrol yesterday and I saw
staff putting new numbers into the Tesco sign today.

Yep - I'm a regular there now - Felix there convinced me to open a fuel account with them as well. When I had a company fuel card I used the Tesco all the time to get the points, but when I started paying for my own fuel in the summer I also started paying more attention to fuel prices.

I think a lot of locals just assume that because it is Tesco, they will be better value.

I have no idea how BP are still doing business, BP premium diesel near me is 125.9p, I drove a couple of miles and got some VPower Diesel for 112.9p which is much nicer stuff than the BP Ultimate crap.

Infact while we're bashing BP they charge 50p for air?!?! 20p anywhere else.

Who me ?

Found Asda & Sainsbury tend to have one price for whole country - Tesco seem to charge a penny or two less than the cheapest alternative .Something that perhaps Asda and Sainsbury should be looking at in their ads .(perhaps)
