I can't even begin to imagine how to build something like this. Oh yeah, and it looks like he used Meccano!

According to the comments, he used to work at Ricardo in the USA. Ricardo UK are the lot who build the Veyron DSG box, so it's fair to say he has an idea about such things I'd assume!!It looks like something James May would have built tho, tbh!

I was very impressed with that meccano gearbox, after studying them for an assignment last year, I'm amazed it can be recreated, especially on small scale!
Reminds me of the guy who spent years fabricating and building a scale model of a 312 PB Ferrari.
