Just after 9 this morning, South Anderson Drive Aberdeen, black Audi TT, heading north, two flashing blue lights on top (I think blue means police - doesn't it?)

Two warbling sirens, but no other identification at all.

Any ideas what it would have been?

Could be a Fire Chief - mates dad had blues and twos on his 'personal car' as he was the gaffer of a Fire station.

I've seen the Audi TT your talking about.....

Stopped behind an Impreza on the A90 with the blue lights flashing away.

2 traffic officers were having a chat with the Impreza driver at the side of the road.

They can also sometimes be quick response medics I think? See a couple where I work on the North Yorks Moors. Regularly see a black Passat and a silver Accord, quieter than normal sirens but wig-wag headlights and blues behind the grills and on the visors. Definitely not plod. Often see a Frontera marked up with "MEDICAL RESPONSE" on the back, blue stripes, light bar on the roof and wig-wags. Pretty funny watching him try and overtake numpties who don't notice him in a crappy TD Frontera wink

Given where you saw it I think the fire service explaination is the best so far.

Could be, I was just past the fire station heading north at the time towards the turning for Ashgrove Road West.

Is it correct what many a PHer has said: BiB can use any car they seize? If so then thats probably it, although really it needs to be red with the white stripe

I believe this to be true, and perhaps the Audi TT in question is the first car to be seized over the Christmas period from a serial drink driver? Guy lived in Westhill IIRC and drove after an arguement with his wife, long shot but plauseable

Watch this space. Having a curious nature, I have put pen to paper to the local Bib, and will let you know the response, if there is one.

Righty tighty, here is the official response to my question to the Grampian Police :-

The vehicle you encountered yesterday 07/01/2010, is used by a member of Grampian Fire and Rescue Staff. At the time he was engaged in legitimate business and on route to an emergency call.

Answers that then.

That's fair enough. Saw a silver A3 with massive lights and very loud sirens (could hear them overpowering AC/DC in full blast) when I was walking along King Street today though, wonder if that is a Fire Officer's car too?
