Watching the 'Day of the Triffids' BBC remake the other day, there were a couple of hilariously bad car gaffes in there.

1) Bloke leaves place 1 in white Disco 3. Bloke seen driving down road in white Range Rover. Bloke arrives at place 2 in white Disco 3.

2) Woman loses control of a Smart car, coming off the road onto some leaves, bumping the front into a log. Car won't start, as steam is pouring from the front of the car. Hmmm, the rads and engine are at the back of a smart aren't they? scratchchin

Any other examples from other films?

(mods, can this be left in GG? Its not really about films, its about cars...)

The new Knightrider, when in pursuit mode grows a blower, but still has a turbo boost feature, and that feature makes the car jump off the ground...

Rad on a smart roadster is at the front. Don't know about normal smarts.

It'd need a depth charge to lift it off the ground!

Anything and everything associated with "the fast and the furious"
quite true.

to be honest, this thread has MILLIONS of possibilities - it's artistic licence by the directors for the purpose of making a great film.

The last thing you'd want is a car chase and then a slightly incline and the baddy saying "whoaaa, there, let me stop, apply the handbrake, engage the diff lock and put it in ascent mode".

Any James bond film, where the talented mr Bond driving an aston is unable to outrun the enemy in his old alfa (or is that realistic?)

I can't remember the name of the film, but in the Lazenby bond there's a car chase at the beginning on a beach, and the wheels are squealing biggrin

There's another Bond where an Aston DB5 is chasing a Ferrari 355 on twisty mountain roads and keeping up - utterly daft.

Hehe. I must admit I was on the lookout for them when I was there in September.

The Bond film Moonraker, where the car goes on to the near side 2 wheels to go down a narrow passage between buildings and comes out the other side on the offside 2 wheels - amazing!

Indeed there was. I think it's in the final episode.

Have you seen the DVD cut, where they inserted a scene where they steer across the alley to change sides? laugh

I noticed that, really confused me. Why couldn't they just use the same car, rather than deliberately changing them? Were they trying to see how many forum posts they could get out of it?

Almost any car crash. Particularly if it involves a pipe ramp or explosive charge.

In Car Classics (or something like that) on TV recently when the presenter did a feature on a Lamborghini Countach. She said it has a 5.2 litre V8.

Can't remember the movie or show, may have been Heroes. Anyway it had a modern Mercedes Benz locking up under braking. I can't remember what model it was but I'm 99.99999998% sure it would have had ABS.

ADD: Not really shockingly bad, but the number of times I've seen a Ferrari 308 change into a 328 and then change back again is amazing.

Oh my god, that's what I was going to post but I didn't want to admit to having watched it (or at least the first part)
