Road Tax due, expired end December. Braved weather today and went to post office with all my relevant documents. V10,MOT Insurance.

Now as soon as I got to the counter after normal half hour long fking wait I knew I was in trouble just by the look of the frosty mog faced old cow that was staring back at me. I ask for road tax and hand over all documents, without a word she proceeds to scan said documents with occasional disgusted glances up at me.

Old Cow: Your insurance is not valid, it does not start till tomorrow.

Me: Well yes, its a renewal policy and the form behind the certificate states that.

Old Cow: No use to me, I need to see the policy document

Me: Your looking at the policy document, that document covers the car for the next year that the tax disk will be valid for. It is also obvious that the car has current insurance as it clearly states that the policy is a RENEWAL.

Her: Motions for manager type old bag to come over.

She hands document to old cow 2, "Insurance does not start till tomorrow.

Old Cow Manager: We need to see the current document or no Tax disk. For all we know you are not insured.

Me: Its a renewal insurance letter with the new document, its bloody obvious I am insured

Her: Not to us and its the rules. No road tax will be issued:

Me: fking idiots

Exit stage left.

So they would have been happy to give me insurance for a car that will be road legal for 1 fking day but not one that will be legal for a fking year.

Go figure the dumb fkwits that are unable to use there own fking brains. Then again I have made the wild assumption that these fking idiots actually have brains. Maybe if you joined the whole fking lot of the useless turds together you would be able to summon up the IQ of fking fish.

Useless old hags.

Silly old bags aren't allowed to use common sense, even if they had any. Plus, they must love turning people like you away, every day.

Do it on-line in future (free with Debit card) or take a VALID insurance doc. You were in the wrong I'm afraid, since the doc you had isn't valid till tomorrow.

Tax requires a valid insurance certificate, yours isn't valid until tomorrow!

Different but the same. I went to my bank to draw out a few hundred quid, but none of the tellers who knew me where there, so they asked for some I.D.

I had left all that at home, but had a passport that had expired a month before around the corner at work.

So I went back with the passport and the bint said 'I can't accept it, it's expired'

To which I replied 'I know it's expired, but I hav'nt. It's still fking me!'

I didn't get any money.

I don't trust doing it online after those geniuses managed to charge me and not send me the disk in time; leading to several contradictory phone calls and a technically undrivable car.

I got tax with no valid insurance, it was due to start a few days later. But I needed tax to get the MOT a few days later.

They probably didn't even check.

Check the small print. They give you a reference number, which you are supposed to print off to use as evidence that you have paid for RFL online if it hasn't been delivered by the time your previous RFL expired.

Print out the receipt, keep it in car, penalty for not having tax disc is £60 non endorsable fine.

If BiB chose to give fine, fight it, JP's will normally throw it out provided that you had tax paid for. Sage advice given to me by my local JP.

ETA Post above explained it much better than me, but you can be rollocked for failing to display tax disc as well as failing to buy.
