Apologies if wrong place for this

Looking at getting a new car - partner has a car we are looking to get rid of.
Is there anything to stop us (her) buying a car and then transferring it to myself afterwards.

Nothing to stop you (and if you mention it to the dealer they *may* register it in your name anyway)

It might look a bit funny having two keepers so quickly. I would expect it to affect the price if you wanted to sell it...although if the two keepers have the same last name/address it'll be pretty obvious what happened.

Just a note, you seem to know but you can't transfer the 'to be scrappaged' car, as you have to have owned it for a year for it to be eligable.

I actualy own a scrappage qualifying motor that will be on ebay shortly. If anyone want to use me to get the scrappage allowance on a new car, i'm up for it. I'd want a grand tho. :-)

I bought one through scrappage to sell on, the dealer was happy with this. Chap who bought the car got it with one owner.

Can change owner once registered.

Can not register in name not on the logbook.

Havnt got the money for a new car, so fleabay it is.... Sorry.

How did this work out then? What car was it and did your cunning plan actually pay off? Did you already have someone lined up to take it off you?

Seems like a bit of a gamble to me.
