Coming out of work in Chertsey at lunchtime, heard a siren, then what can only be described as a SWAT vehicle came tanking past.

Black Ford F350 chassis cab with box rear, blues and twos, POLICE in big white letters down the side with something like DZP or similar initials written in smaller white above the POLICE text?

ETA: Like this, but a bigger F350, and the three initials above the POLICE text. There was not Met Police markings on it either?

Tony Blair forgot to take the Labour Party brain cell with him to the enquiry.

Express Delivery.

I realise that this post may been seen as a bit insulting. Sorry. I realise that the Labour Party doesn't really have anything as advanced as a brain cell.

Any particular reason why they are buying US vehicles?. Nothing against them, mind you, just thought they would look for something a bit more "local" like the Transits or even the Sprinters they currently use.

Transits and sprinters are just not up to the job!The large chequer plate on the front of the guardian vehicle above is a staging point for an entry team to enter buildings or aircraft.I couldnt see to many standing on the front of a transit or sprinter, unless they were cardboard cut-outs.

They are a few Defender 110,s as well converted for the task. A lot of the "builds" was carried out by Jankel.

A version of the Defender 110.....

Along with fully armoured Land Rovers identical to the ones used by the Royal Ulster Constabulary.

Spec the thing up - you want a chassis cab vehicle with the capacity to carry more than three tonnes, with a manual gearbox, and you also want to be able to go off road and go at more than 80mph on the road if possible. Not much else fits the bill really.

Land Rover special vehicles 110 with uprated springs and a V8? Its well up to the job, vastly better off road and far more low key.Much more sutible.

Looks like the Americans are, just not someone who knows how to put it on properly wink

Those things look a tad oppressive/overly aggressive imo.

It's going to come nowhere near the capability of one of those big fords, they're the size of a 7.5 tonne truck, but designed to drive across a ploughed field at speed.
