Pot holes end in brotherly man love
Discussion
Before I start, lets just get one thing straight shall we?
4 inches is not a lot. 6 inches is still barely worth flattering an eyelid over, and 12 inches is where things start to get interesting.
No I’ve not just read Jordans diary, (I can’t read txt spk), what I’m on about is ‘the worst winter in 30 years’.
On average at its worst point most places in the UK had a foot of snow. Inconvenience? Defiantly. End of the man made world? Apparently so.
Why is it then that Nan next door (who walks with a trolley frame and who stumbles along on even glass smooth surfaces) decide she cannot, and will not do without her morning paper even when Sir Ranolf Fines would consider it chilly?
Recreating bambi on ice is hilarious from my living room window, but less so if she fell and cracked her head on the pavement (means I’d have to get my slipper wet…)
God forbid anyone trying to get to work in the mornings.
Seems that snow is a quickly forgotten occurrence in the UK (like manners, TATA Ranchos and Slade.)
Snowy condition preparations normally consist of:
Wake up, turn on GMTV, be annoyed that 2inches of snow didn’t close every road/bus route (that would take 4 inches), get dressed in summer clothing (crop top and/or thin shirt) , jump into car, spin wheels, spin wheels, spin wheels, drive and normal pace, peering through misted screen and snow castle on the bonnet, brake, hit kerb, stop. Even young Piquet couldn’t manage such an array of randomly placed cars in the UK countryside.
Obviously tears and a small compo claim follows (normal practice now if anything goes wrong), but is there someone to blame?
After last years ‘Worst winter in 30 years’ the Government assured us that they’d learnt from their mistakes and ordered more Salt this year.
Fills you with confidence doesn’t it? Gold values now pushing the highest they’ve ever been, even tempting young ‘Roy’ to part with his 5 carat nose ring. Perhaps now the government should sell its reserves? But wait, they sold when it was at its lowest price in decades, helping our economy. Apparently.
So when they say they have plenty of salt/grit/gravel you know things are about to go the shape of a summer fruit.
Within 10 days of snowfall came the warnings of not enough salt. So in a stroke of genius, the Government ‘think tank’ came up with an idea. Use less salt.
Genius. So now not even Nanny next door would attempt the roads. Piquet Jnr still managed to hit several kerbs by finding a hill, blaming Ron Dennis for gravity.
Thankfully the snow melted, leaving what can only be described as a surface so pitted and uneven that even the cause of the weather (4x4’s of course!) have trouble navigating the roads.
Almost half a million was spent by BANES repairing our roads after the snow fall. So about as much as Labour claimed for second home gardening expenses then.
If they had planned ahead, repaired the roads before winter, less water and ice would have got into the surface, braking up less roads, meaning less repairs. Obvious isn’t it? Oh wait, when did they sell our Gold reserves again?
Our smooth riding Rover clunked and banged, so what hope does an Italian sports car have?
Even riding on 15 inch OEM rims, my brothers Fiat Coupe hit a pothole so large Ecclestone could be buried alive. His OEM rims bent, and not only bent, but cracked.
Meaning on a Friday night at 8.00pm my brother and I awaited to be picked up with our stricken Fiat.
Was nice to have a chat.

I'm more concerned that you'd feel if safer to hop to your Grandmother's aid rather than walk. Or would you just hurl the one slipper at her from the living room window and tell her to get a move on?i dont think they're caused by snow, i believe theroot cause is the crap repairs done by private companies doing less than the minimum when it comes to putting back the hole they just dug!
almost all the craters round by us are in, on or next to where the road has been dug up.
the snow is more of a symptom
