Tech Details: Citroen DS3 Racing

Citroen reveals full more spec info on its new hot hatch

Citroen has released more technical details and 'official' official pics (rather than the DS3 ones leaked last week) of its new DS3 Racing hot hatch.

We'll leave the subject of styling well alone for now, but look beneath the retina-hurting orange and black paint scheme and the running gear of the car is undeniably interesting.

We've known for some time that power would be around the 200bhp mark, and Citroen has now confirmed that the 1.6-litre turbocharged motor will be good for 197bhp (up 30 per cent on the 154bhp THP 150), while torque is up 15 per cent to 203lb ft. To achieve this, the turbo and ECU have been tweaked and a new tail pipe and silencer have been fitted.

The chassis has also received a tickle, with stiffer springs (which lower the car by 15mm), tweaked front and rear shocks and front and rear tracks widened by 30mm. The steering has also been sharpened up, while the front brakes get four-pot callipers at the front and drilled discs at the rear.

I love this car its so Chavy its cool!

I would have mine in the British racing green/gold roof combo seen on the spy shots last week. In fact I wonder if they are taking orders yet?

Imagine having a Gold dash board! You would be King of the Chavs! paperbag

Yeah its the same engine as the Cooper s.

I love the wheels!..and the dash looks at least as cool as the Fiat Coupe. Nice to see some colour and zing inside rather than .....grey...and black....

I like. I like a lot. OK, I probably wouldn't go for that paintjob, but the car itself look mean and purposeful.

If I was 20 something looking for a hot hatch......

I think the back of the car looks very generic. I reckon the 5 door will look ugly as sin.

Seats taken straight from a 207 GTi, which means that the side bolsters will be flimsy as hell but comfy for a 'racing' seat.

Seriously, what man over 25 would drive this

without dying of embarrassment?

Make a fast, fun car by all means but please style it more discreetly.

I haven't though, have I? I'm a very discreet fellow me.

My 911 of choice is a 964RS or a 997 C2 and as you may have seen in PH road tests, I am not a fan of Evos or Subarus at all. Just my own taste, and opinion.

Not sure about the funny triangle sticking up between the side windows. But in a normal colour scheme (black on Black) it would look pretty good!
