Replacing the tyres on my GTV and have the above choices. Anyone got any opinions on which one to go for?

Cheers

I'd go for the Toyos, it's been a while since I had a set of T1S's on my car, but my lasting memory was that they were good in the dry if a little iffy in the wet.

The S306's are ditch finders, I've got a set on my Focus, they wallow around in the dry, have no grip at all in the wet, and worst of all I'll be fked if I can wear the bloody things out and get rid of them. Their only redeeming features are that they ride well and clear water well

Both are ditchfinders in my experience.

Why are those your only choice, and why those 2? The Toyo is a performance tyre, the Yoko is more a touring tyre so depending on how you drive could influence the choice.

It's just that they are around the same price on the Blackcircles website. As far as driving goes, I only use the car for a Sunday blast or occasional Trackday. I think Toyos sound the way to go...

I've always found the T1-R a bit wishy washy on feel...

Certainly seem to take 1000 miles to bed in nicely and get some coming through, but never as much as say an Eagle F1 or something.

Falken FK452 are a better budget performance tyre imho!

I'd agree with Dave above. Also, in my experience the T1R can delaminate on track on a heavy powerful car, not sure what the stats are on your motor.

Also worth looking at the Kumho KU31, seems to be getting lots of positive reviews. It has the hype the t1r / fk452 did a few years ago, and is a newer design.

If they do your size, have a look at the Hankook V12 EVO as they seem to be winning all sorts of tyre comparison tests lately up against the premium brands and are pretty cheap.

An excellent recommendation, I'd forgotten about these.

Can I resurrect this?

I was planning on fitting T1-Rs to my trackday car, but the S306s are coming in £15 a corner cheaper. Blackcircles describe the Toyo as a mid-range tyre and the Yoko as a premium tyre, in spite of the prices being contrary.

Very conflicting feedback on using these tyres for trackdays - anyone have any experience of tyres in the £75-£100 range which suit an E36?
