Very big in the VW world; I've seen a lot of examples at VW Action (Golfs, Camper Vans etc), but it's not a look I "get". But, each to their own and all that.
There's a Mk2 Scirocco which is half rat/half standard, which is rather odd. I'll see if I can dig out some pictures.

what I dont get is how these things pass the MOT with rust like that? Also you must have to do something to stop the rust going all the way through
I believe they pain the outside in oil which stops it rusting..i may stand corrected thats just what i heard from a mate tho...

They sand them down and leave them outside, the panels only have surface rust on them, then they clearcoat the panels.
I think .

I like the look if done properly, if I get another car for daily use I'm tempted to get a few mates over and go to work on my kia, its worth nothing anyway so no great loss if it goes tits up.
I think if you do it you know its all about the fun of it and don't expect to be taken seriously, given a choice I'd take one of those over a barried car anyday.

I quite like the look of that! I have seen a rat look E28 (I think) 5 series with a black bonnet and roof rack, that had a certain charm.Gassing Station | General Gassing [Archive] | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
