Geneva: Citroen Survolt Concept

Swoopy, compact sports car concept is sadly no more than a pipe dream

Citroen has unveiled what must be one of the most dramatic concepts of the Geneva show, the Survolt electric sports car.

A cross between the Frankfurt show Revolte concept and the beefy GTbyCitroen supercar, the Survolt is a compact sports coupe that's shorter than a Mini Clubman, but just a touch longer than an ordinary Mini.

Other than that it's all a bit what-you-see-is-what-you-get - there are no tech specs as this is firmly a concept, and no plans for production.

We think the idea's quite nice though - give it the 197bhp turbocharged 1.6 from the DS3 R (also at the show) rather than the planned electric motor and it could be quite an appealing prospect...

Its never going to be made which makes it seem like a totally pointless operation, just like that Citroen which appeared in GT4, whats that? 6 years ago? shoot

Even if "extreme" cars like these do get developed, they lose everything that is exciting about them e.g. the new lexus hatch and the RR Stormer/Sport...

Can this company just give these 'styling' exercise a rest and concentrate on making interesting cars for real.

I'd like to know what she's looking at. It's obviously far more interesting and exciting than the Citroen.

I like it, with the right engine around 300hp and RWD that is...
or 4wd electric with most power flows to the rear wheels.

lol, mini-Veyron front end. Not the worst looking concept ever - if only they hadn't chosen hot pink as the contrast colour...

Car is way too blinged up for my liking. Doesn't have the pace to set it on fire.

Model, on the other hand... cloud9

If only 10% of the design stuff that gets displayed at these shows makes it into production, then I'm happy. And I'd sooner wander about looking at Mental Concepts like this and the Sbarro batmobile than a fleet of new Polos or Audis.
