Prices rising just before the budget

Is it me or do the garages pop a couple of pence on a litre of fuel a day or so before the budget.

My local Sainsburys was 116.9p/litre today and another local non-supermarket garage was 120.9p/litre ( both for unleaded). They've both jumped 2p/litre in the last couple of days.
Isn't there 3p/litre going on pump prices from April 1

Diesel up a penny on my way home for lunch, it'll have gone up again when I go home tonight. (It's happened twice before)

Yep, the Shell Garage on the way home here put the price up at lunchtime, then it was back down again by I got home, then back up this morning.. I hope thats an electronic number machine because you wouldn't catch me up and down there each hour changing the numbers

Its all price of oil plus currency movements - all against us of course.

So in all these rises the Gov't has already had over 60% of the changes - then wants more !!

Suspect that an increase of below 3p may be on the cards, in a late budget change - to buy votes. Watch this space tomorrow.

Its £1.24 for super unleaded here, someone has suggested that we boycott buying from Shell & BP as they are the major players, they are dictating the price and our government just sits back and sucks up all the extra income in taxes.

It's the government who need a kicking, not the petrol companies.

It cost Desire $245,000 a day just to have Ocean Guardian to drill down in the Falklands for oil, they've got to make it back somewhere.

Where as the government haven't done bugger all except waste the tax, and want to get the motorist to bend over and pay for it.

Well one novel thought is to reinvest some of those profits that they have made over the last few years in their exploration programme, which will ultimately lead to a continuation of their profits in the future rather than just hiking on another increase in the price of go juice. It seems like there has been weekly increase of a few pence since Christmas.

Don't get me wrong I have a very good idea of the ridiculous % of the £ paid at the pump which goes in tax and I also think that they need their attitudes adjusting but the oil companies aren't doing themselves any favours right now!
