Discussion
It has been going on for a while, but recently there has been an inreasing tendency for PH threads to be filled with unduly negative comments about certain car manufacturers, their products, and their owners. The most marked examples of this can be found in the threads following PH news articles.
Many of these comments are idiotic and get on my tits. Clearly I am not the only one to find this as these threads often end up in heated debate.
So, fellow PHers, which manufacturer is most unfairly singled out for criticism and abuse? I have selected the options as a result of my own observations from recent threads, but there may well be some that I have missed so feel free to suggest your own.

BMW is the marque most NOT unfairly singled out for criticism and abuse. They need to get a lot more of it and we should start here and now on this very thread. This is pistonheads, not Beemerheads after all.

Look at the poll though J, you can't argue with democracy...

Rover/MG
Dad has owned a few and never had any issues with them at all. Also think that the ZT/75 was a very good car for the time and yet they all still get slated.
Rover was the first manufacturer I thought of, I guess BMW also get a fair bit of grief over some of their cars, such as the 1-series, but not others. Most unfairly maligned manufacturer on PH
Very well worded.
My first thought was - as another mentioned above - Bristol. But they're a very small, niche manufacturer of hand built cars and that, by its very nature I think, will engender polar attitudes: you either get them or you don't. Despite the occasional minger, I get them for reasons I won't bore anyone with.
But of the ones listed, I voted Audi
Now I know (or suspect) that much of the venom directed towards Audi's (the cars) are actually being aimed at the drivers. But, TBH, I drive a reasonable amount of miles per year - 20k+ - and really and truthfully it's not Audi drivers that are the worst out there. Nor BMW pilots for that matter. I see many other "marques" that seem to attract numptiness, but that's for another thread. So the reasons why Audi should be the subject of much derision on 'ere eludes me somewhat.
OK. The DRL's that now appear on cooking versions of their cars is incongruous at best, and for me should be limited to the top line versions of each range. But in terms of looks, the vast majority of Audi's cars are rather smart. Q7 excepted. Some colleagues have Audis. They are all well screwed together both inside and out, the interiors are very nice places to sit in, the S3 is prodigiously quick. I've not sat in the R8, but I suspect that the interior game is ramped up quite considerably from the lesser models and in real life they are (to me) bloody good looking bits of kit. Much better than a 911, and a country mile better than a GT-R. And although the V10 version has had mixed reviews in the press, the V8 has historically been praised for it's ride and handling.
Having said all that, if - for example - I had 45 large to burn on a coupe I'd go for a Cayman rather than a TT-RS and although I know a S3 is fookin quick, I wouldn't fork out 30k for one with a decent spec. But you pays yer money etc etc etc.........
Going back to the OP's list: two that are maligned for the right reasons, for me, are BMW and Pug. Loss of direction and loss of direction respectively.

k voted for Peugeot? The abuse the current Pug range gets is entirely justified.

Definitely.
