Quick question guys, how many miles should you get of of a pair of tyres?

Have tad over 9000 on my Volvo S80, and not looking too good (front ones)

My Golf scrubs the front tyres fairly quickly, probably something to do with the engine weight over the driven wheels. I wouldn't say I have a heavy right foot.

Depends on the tyre

I stuck a set of ditchfinders on my daughters car to save a few quid - they we're practically bald 2000 miles later. I replaced them with a set of Bridgestones which are still okay 10000 miles later.

Really depends on lots of factors, like your driving style and the types of road/weather conditions they are used in, and the setup of the car (weight, suspension, etc), and the kind of tyre and the speeds they are driven at.

I managed to drive like a knob for 30k and do 3 trackdays before the toyo proxy cf1s gave up the ghost on my 306

I'd say suspension and tyre have more to do with tyre longevity than engine location/weight on driven wheels

Depends on driving style, tyre, steering geometry.

The Goodyear Eagle F1's on my car lasted about 17,000 on the front.

GF's Golf has Dunlop Sport Maxx they are knackered after 12,000 miles.

I get around 15k from a set of rears on my Boxster but I got 40k from the fronts from new.

Then again there seems to be a kind of kudos with "I got 4k off Toyo Proxes on my Clio 1.2" so I guess it depends on a lot of factors not least being how you drive the car.

All depends on your driving style.

In my astra I got 45k out of the fronts & they still had 4mm left before I got rid of the car.

The Megane did 20k, 10k & 15k+ (still on before when I sold it) from the fronts & 20k, 25k+ on the rears.

The vxr8 as far as I can tell is still on the original fronts at 31k, the rears were changed at 20k & I've still 5mm left after 11k.

About 5k miles out of my rear Bridgestone RE050's.
But then again, I do rag the daylights out of the car.

Fronts seem to be OK.. biggrin

3 years. They don't wear out before they perish. The rears on the Vectra had 70k on them and were at 5mm. The fronts 60k and also at 5mm. Then I sold the car so who knows how many miles they could have done, but the rears were just starting to show cracks in the surface of the sidewalls.

OP- you're running a, what, 250bhp, heavy front wheel drive car, I'd be quite happy with 9k. Obviously depends on how "heavy" your right foot is, but I'd think that was about average for a car like that.

I used to get about 17k from my Goodyear Eagle F1 Assyms on my Leon TDI 170 FR.
