Hi i recently bought a car of someone on ebay and had it delivered to me as it was located far away from me, when it was delivered i asked for the log book so i could take it the following day, the delivery driver called the seller and he said it was left in the other truck, i then asked if they could post it 1st class and they said yes, this logbook never arrived and and so was left very dissapointed as i have this car sittign here that i just had mot and insured but cant drive it frown

the seller was no help at all and didnt even care to be honest.

i sent of a V62 form of over a week ago to get a brand new log book, they said a 2- 4 week wait frown

has anyone else been in this situation and ever got there log book even fast than the 2-4 week wait? just hoping it will come sooner so i can have a car again

thanks

They take a while because when you apply for it they then contact the last known seller, they are then given 2 weeks to respond. If they don't they will issue the new log book.

So based on the time it takes to get to them, process, contact the last owner, await response, process, send out to you....

If the last owner responds immediately you could be lucky and be looking at approx a 2 week turnaround, but if they dont its more likely 4 weeks.

Been in this situation before, its annoying.

I've waited around 6 weeks for a log book to show up after buying a car. Sometimes they have never shown up.

No, I bought the car off a trader so he just gave me the V5 to complete and send back myself, following their guidance he should have done it, but that way at least I knew it had been completed and sent off.

If the vehicle is in "trade", it will be a lot quicker.

Just a update i have been give another load of lies from the seller, what do you make of this? im worried about the bit where it says the logbooks not in anybodys name.

listen iam sick to death of emails you bought the car it wasnt advertised with a log book i could of sworne it had 1 iam in the trade for life not just a back street garage i offered your son the £25 for the book but that wasnt good enough and plus he doesnt need the log book to tax it as it not in anybody name just go to a prime post office and them will do it for him i have got the invoice for the car but the way he spoke to me on the phone i thought why the heck should i run a bout like blue arse fly you already got a good deal on the delivery my man had to wait for an hour to get paid so dont be twisting on about a log book if you want the £25 i will give it to you in person as ive just sold my truck tonight and his post code is only 27 mile away from your home addres i will call in with it ok no heart feelings just ring me instead of emails

I take that to mean it is in trade state.

Is there a local DVLA office near you?

Apply for a new one and put the £25 in yourself. If he does pay you it them its a bonus.
The dvla are bloody useless as I sent a V5 to them over four weeks ago and still haven't had it returned.
