Hi all,
My civic type r is in need of some new rubber, a local garage has recomended a tyre called Lassa Tyres, he told me that they were a company bought out by Bridgestone and that they were a good tyre, has anyone heard of them or used them? they cost £92 each compared to the £117 I've been quoted for Bridgestones.
Any help would be great
Thanks
Shaun

Bridgestones are good, but pricey.
My favourite are BF Goodrich Profilers (I had on my EK9 type R, they can be had for a good price.
Toyos as mentioned are great and well priced.
Conti's or Good year F1s if you get a deal on them, but I wouldnt pay ninety odd quid for an unknown tyre.

Every un-heard of tyre brand is owned by one of the big companies if you believe what tyre people say. None of them perform like the big brands though, unless you compare them to Pirelli P6000s.

Go with the bridgestones or another known quantity.

Don't skimp on your rubber for the price of a tank of petrol! If Lassa were so good then we'd all be running on them.

Garages are always telling people that some budget rubbish they want to shift is "made by" a premium brand tyre manufacturer. Sometimes it's true that the budget tyre company is a subsidiary of one of the big players, but it doesn't necessarily imply that the tyres are any the better for it. The crap in the bins at the back of the Fat Duck is "made by" Blumenthal's restaurant, but you wouldn't want to eat it.

Never skimp on tyres.

I was told & have since read online that new tyres should go on the rear NOT the front regardless of what drive type (fwd, rwd) you are.

Say thanks but no thanks, go for Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta or Falken FK452, the type r has a 17" wheel right ? both of those should be £80-90 fitted.

I run the Falkens on a 500 bhp+ car and they're pretty good - but to be honest, I don't have the handling round the twisties of a civic type R, so you'll be giving them more of a 'work out'! laugh

The only "budget performance" tyres I'd consider are Falken FK452s, after having great experience of them on a friend's Cerbera.

But for an extra £20 a corner, I think I shall be having Vredestaien Ultracs or similar on the Morgan next month. It's not as if the budget option is half the price of anything.

Lassa are indeed part of Bridgestone. Their tyres are fine, Ive used them and was happy, and I'm fussy about tyres.

Lassa are similar to Firestone, which are also a Bridgestone make.

Lassa are not a bridgestone sub-brand. There is a joint venture factory in Turkey where both Bridgestone and Lassa tyres are produced but Lassa are not part of the Bridgestone group (as Firestone is for example).
