Having a few problems with my insurance company, they seem unable to find the details of the guy who crashed into me, he was driving a Landrover with a number plate starting with CD (core diplomat i think?). Anyone know anything about CD plates etc? He hit me head on round a sharp bend on my side of the road, my A3 is written off and I'm struggling to get a courtesy car from my insurance company (admiral) until they can contact the other party.

Any advice/info much appreciated, cheers

I don't think that's right.

For a very long time now all diplomatic plates have had one of the following six number one letter sequences, with either a D or an X in the middle,

101 D 101

or

300 X 400

Diplomatic plates in this country usually follow format

NNN D YYY

Where NNN defines the country and YYY the vehicle.

What was the format of the plates on the vehicle that hit you?

CD NN XXX

Or something else?

Strange, his plate was CD - 05XB, was a green landrover discovery, insurance company is being less than helpful.

(made one number an X so as to not post the entire plate..)

If it was CD 05 XXX then that means it was first registered in Cardiff, if it was CD 05 XX then that could be military.

That should be a genuine Belgian-issued diplomatic plate IF the letters CD are in green and all the other letters/numbers are in red.

Post (or PM me) the exact plate and I may be able to check it out for you via one of my friends.

Edit: It could take a couple of days to get an answer.

the 300 X 400 plates are for consular staff

If you don't get a result from the insurance company, take a leaf out of Lethal Weapon 2's book.

"It's just been revoked."
