I'd like to take my nephew karting when he gets a bit older. He's only just turned 3, but I was wondering what the youngest age is. I presume this will vary by track, but is there a general minimum age?

It's normally height which makes a
difference, but i think our local one is 7 years old.

They do Kids events only but you have to be a bit older than 3.

The minimum age for drivers is 8 years old and the minimum inside leg length of 25 inches, measured from the bottom of the shoe to the crotch, is absolutely necessary.

Drivers aged 13 and upwards, providing they have an inside leg measurement of 29 inches, receive the fantastic experience of driving the more powerful senior karts – which are charged at Adult price.

Call Bob Pope at Teesside Autodrome, Middlesbrough (handy for you) and I'm sure he'll help you. It isn't the norm, but I know exceptions may be considered. The number is 01642 231116. Make sure it is Bob you speak to, he won't be back in until early next week. HTH

I assume that he's expressed an interest in Karting and that you wouldn't be like those people you see vicariously living their (failed) ambitions through children!

He's only 3 - the only things he's interested in are toys and chocolate at the moment. Which young lad wouldn't enjoy karting though.

If you mean proper competition karting, not indoor rubbish. The first rung on the ladder is 'Cadets' at 8 years of age.
