no i mean REALLY boring.

time has come to buy wife a proper family car.

so been to look at scenics and c4 picasso's (im drifting off already)

these are around the 15k mark for something 12 month old, but id prefer to spend 10k if possible.

she wants something as new as possible, but i reckon i could talk her into older low mileage example.

mpv, suv, big hatchback or estate, must be diesel.

her main priority is for the the little lad to fit in his car seat lying down (something he cant do in my 123d) and to be able to fit the new babys pram in the boot (its a big pram) oh and it that it looks pretty (so no fiat multipla or renault kangoo's)

christ, when did car hunting become so BORING! i hate family cars...

the only good to come out of this, is that i can then sell my diesel bimmer and get something PROPER biggrin

Ford Focus Estate, reliable, cheap to run, plenty space, doesn't cry out 'my life is over' as much as an MPV.

I'd love to do vxr but insurance, tax and fuel costs rule that out.

V50 is a good shout but she won't have a volvo(women)

passat is certainly a front runner, if a little bland.

Just been to motorpoint and seen a cmax, a touran, an altea. None of which really inspired me.

C-Max if she is going to be driving it most of the time.

Should do everything perfectly.

I shall be joining this club next year perhaps. So very sad... why don't they make a drivers MPV?

I am thinking S max or some such crap.

House move followed by X5 this year though.

I had an Altea as a hire car in Spain a couple of years ago, and quite liked it. Not bad looking for a people carrier, and decent TDI engine.

it will be her car as I will prob get a 2 seater for daily commute and weekend hooning.

But obviously when we go out as a family I will be driving do needs to be slightly interesting.

I agree.. but what can you get thats interesting. If your spending your hard earned loot on a car, you want something appealing. No MPV appeals to me currently unless you get a later 4x4 with 7 seat option, like volvo bmw or Toyota.

Zafira VXR has 237bhp
S-Max 2.5T has 217bhp
Altea 2.0T has 200bhp

None of them are great on twisty roads, but they do as well as they can, given the size/practicality constraints.

3-series touring is the alternative if you want a nicer chassis but less space.
