Video: Focus RS500 On The Move
Ford releases moving images of special-edition super-hatch
Despite having already sold the full production run of the new RS500, Ford is still busy PR-ing its new limited-edition super-hatch.
The latest offering is this, the first official promo video, the first chance to get a good look at (and listen to) the Focus RS500 on the move. On the basis of this minute-long vid it certainly looks and sounds the part - even if you're not sold on that matt-black paint film.
Of course, there is one very obvious reason as to why Ford is still promoting the RS500 - if you've missed out on the factory car you can still get a standard one upgraded, courtesy of an RS500 performance pack from Mountune.

Only thing it has going for it is the noise.
If only Audi would put the 5 potter from the RS TT into an R/S3, yum yum!

Not sure if the RS3 has been canned or not....but rumours were banging around that IF they were to build it, it would be using the same 2.5 5 pot from the TTRS.Only thing it has going for it is the noise.

But heard nothing about a RS3 for a long time.....so I'm going to assume its been canned.

Expensive, but if i had the money to buy one have to say i probably would! certainly a sexier car than the new Golf, my only worry would be how long that paint wrap would stay looking pristine?
From what I can make out, it's Gloss Black underneath with a clear 'matte' film over it. Which might stand up better than the traditional Matte Black wrap.Who gives a f
k what drive it is, its still awesome. The Sierra RS500 may have been good in its day, but obviously dont stack up to most of the modern cars out there now.
As for fat hot hatch, the Sierra was a bloater back in its day, look at the size of it to the Cortina it replaced.
I still wonder why the homogolation rules about the drive train being similar got scrapped. WHAT EXACTLY IS RS ABOUT THIS FAT HOT HATCH?

I really think that this FWD Focus RS500 is utterly pointless! It pails into insignificance compared to this:

Amen to that.

Wish i could justify punting the ST for one
For me that's the problem. I'm personally not interested in the 'RS' badge and don't get buying a car as an investment, which is why most people have placed orders for this car. If anything I prefer the ST's look, therefore I'd stick with the ST get the Mountune upgrades and be done with it.
Back in the day RS cars were built for a purpose, for me this is just a stunt to try and shift a few more cars with a £2k performance upgrade kit and an £8k plaque that says RS500 #1/500.
As has been said before BHP figures sell cars.
