Just had a drive in a vxr. 58 reg all the trimmings, 6000miles, £15.5k

Not driven one yet but always likes the Clio sport 200. I can help thinking that a new one is about the same price as above...

So over to the ph massive, what do you think? Vxr or 200? Anyone tried both/owned either? Advice please. I think (without driving it) that I prefere the Clio.

Driven a 197, never driven the VXR.

Clio, no question. The VXR is I'm sure a lovely car and very quick, but it's a bit 'baseball cap' for me.

i'm way to lazy to keep a car to that kind of standard and it would be a shame to spoil something like that.

If you are financing the car rather than paying cash and like the VXR have a look at this it 'Might' work out cheaper depending on your circumstance.

I quite like the Corsa but I think the Clio would be the choice of most keen drivers.

I'd choose a 197 over a VXR - The 200 moves the game on even further!

The grip & handling is quite simply mind blowing!

Drove both (ish was a 197) and bought the Clio. Corsa faster in straight line apparently, but its not as good through bends. And my mum has a corsa. just didnt feel right having the same car.

This was a 197 so would have thought the 200 would be better.

My choice, I'd have the clio personally smile

15.5k on a small vauxhall hatch is madness to me. The fact the 4th piston fails under a remap alone gives you an idea of the kind of quality engineering you are buying.

Is it really worth twice the cost of a lightly used slightly older 182?

That says more about the quality of the remap than the car!

I believe Thorney put it down to a certain stand alone company that offer remaps including to 3rd parties. However, it seems like muddy water as to if this is the actual case. I'm sure someone else can shed some more light on it. I'd certainly say it's worth looking into closely given it's main advantage over rivals like the CTR's/Clio's is tuneability - at least in regards to pound for pound value.

Funny though that Thorney have done their fair share of P4 failures too! Not to mention some slightly strange mapping on astras when it came to closer inspection of fuelling..

Depends on what you want really, as nice as the vxr is, I would be angling toward the clio after watching the one go round brands

What shocked me was, I asked the list price of a new vxr and he said 18k and the one I drove with all the extras would have been 21k new!! That's nuts for a corsa!
It did shift but I did feel it needed to the reved a lot to press on, having said that I've heard the same if the Clio.

Having a go in a Clio this week, i've always lusted after one and as far as I know the list is around 16k so a much better deal.

I guess we'll see

list price is just a con to make you think you are getting a good deal when they tell you 3k off list price or manufacturers rrp etc

I hated the Corsa, what sticks in my memory was the ultra light clutch, horrible shaped gearknob and heavish throw. I could probably get used to it but would never Love it.

Haven't driven the 200 but had a lone 60 minute test drive in a r27 which was bloody brilliant.

My mates got a Corsa VXR, and as much as i think they look pretty decent on the outside for a small car, I cant stand the interior. Saying that, I know hee haw about the Clio's apart from I see a 08 plate liquid yellow R27 quite often and it looks sweet smile

I agree the clio is better car, but if you can lease a corsa vxr for £235 a month as some sites suggest, it;s quite acheap way of getting in a new hot hatch.
