I'm looking for some car advice from you nice people.

I bought my first car last year and have had a huge amount of fun from a MK1 MX5.
The car has done just under 40k miles in that time (I travel for work) and while a lot of that milage has been on motorways I much prefer backroads.

The wife now tells me that I need to change to something with 4 seats rather than 2.. and I'm not sure what to buy.
So I'm looking for car suggestions under £4,200

I was thinking about an M3, or an RX8 but wasn't sure about the running costs?
Audi S3?

Thanks

Thanks. I read through the topic but it seemed focused on the 156 vs BMW only and I didn't want to go off topic.

Personal preference I know but the look of the 156 isn't really for me, right now I'm leaning towards the RX8 or M3

(Or is that the problem - you're so fertile, she's about to pop twins? wink )

The RX8 will give you a lot of fun, but will also eat your wallet with petrol and oil costs. If you're going to get one for under £4000, get it checked out professionally as the earlier ones are known to have faults (Can't remember what)

You could get a Nissan Skyine R33 Gts-T for that sort of money if you want the boy racer image. From what i've heard, they're great fun and have 4 seats.

Yep that would be a solution smile
It would mean that I'd have to drive her nasty people carrier about every time we went away for the weekend though..

What sort of car do you like - sleeper speed or in your face looks? guess mpg is not too much of an issue judging by your current list?

Usual hatchbacks of Leon Cupra, Civic Type R or how about something older like a 7 series or A6 or perhaps this E36 AMG?

Also some of the imprezza's and Mitsi Evo's fall into that price band

For something a little more subtle, how about an XJR?
