Right I have locked myself out of my car.

I know stupid thing to do but it wasn't intentional obviously, my car and house keys are separate from my work set getting out of the car this morning I managed to knock the button, knob, latch thing what ever you call it on the door just enough to lock the door, just as I realized my keys were in the ignition still.

Its a Signum if that matters does anyone have any ideas what I can do? the boot and all other doors are fully locked as they all work on either a second unlock or separate button.

You shouldn't be able to lock the drivers door from inside while it's open on a Signum. Or any modern Vx.

Spare key or window in, there's your two choices.

I though those were my options.

Cheers anyway, I appreciate it.

Back to home at lunch then, just happy I keep my back door key on my work set.

I dont know if this actually works but you could give it a try....

Cut a tennis ball in half, pop the half tennis ball over the lock, give it a good whack.

Apparently the change in pressure causes the locks to pop. Never tried it never seen it done but heard about it from a few different sources.

Worth a shot no?

Used to work on my Mk 5 cortina! Although you could open the doors of just about any Ford of that period with the keys of any other Ford.

Do you have AA/RAC cover? They will have special tools to open your doors and get the keys out.

Is the ignition on ?
Pole/coathanger through the rubber strip at the top of the door and try to force the electric window switch down

Second resort, RAC/AA will get you in

Third resort, Vauxhall dealer

Fourth resort, Big Hammer

Has your partner / Mrs' got another set of keys?

If so, give her a call on your mobile, stand next to the car and ask her to "blip" the key on her side (holding it next to her receiver).

Failing that, you can upgrade to home start assistance and get AA/RAC out?

Any 12 year old round here would be in that in about 30 seconds!

biggrin

Another thing is, although be extremely careful, is to bend the top of door frame back just enough to get a coat hanger in then try and hook onto the lock! It worked with a Clio I once had. smile

Though if the latches are anything like my Astra then there's nothing to get hold of really.

I doubt that you will manage to get a coathanger through without damaging the door, old cars used to have large gaps , I think modern cars have much tighter gaps and better seals.
