Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of current good deals, last year’s models, cheap, second hand, sub £100 stereo's currently available.

As the above suggests I’m not looking for anything special, Bluetooth may be nice I guess but not needed, I’d like an input for an mp3 player and also a usb if poss. May be asking too much, but who knows.
Cheers,

Cramman.

Can you explain why you would want both?
Most descent MP3 players you can just plug onto your USB port... (notice how I didn't mention the iPod)

A friend had one of these, or something similar, in his car and it seemed to be decent quality:

Lots of features for not a bad price IMO.

I guess I dont. To be honest its a long time since I bought a car stereo. Basically, its to go in a vx200 so need to avoid having cds everwhere.

Also, I don't use an ipod, Probs be sticking with android phones, and their in built mp3 players for some time yet.

I used to do that too (Milestone btw), but now I just make a USB stick in the car, cheap as paper, saves battery on your cell, and so easy to fill.

The suggested stereo's all look fine, for that budget you shouldn't have any problem finding something half-descent.

I have a pioneer deh 3500 colour screen mp3 disk and iPod connectivity (you do have to buy an adapter at around £30 though for iPod) just sat sealed up as no longer needed. If interested pm me.

I agree if it was an adapter cable but it's not. The whole stereo is modular and you add to the base unit (8600 not 3600 as previously stated) the parts you want ie you can get navigation, tv, video, and iPod units.

The iPod unit charges and controls and for it's time as about 2 years old now, nothing else did it. Quality is also fantastic and do keep thinking about swopping it for the alpine unit in new car. The adapter used ti be £100 by the way.

The Pio 4200 SD is a Best Buy. If You're planning to improve the system, it has 3 pairs of RCA outputs and this is a 2010 model. In my country there's a saying: "It's a stealing to buy! (for this price)" smile

Thanks for the replies. To be honest I reasly like the look, and features, of that pioneer, the 4200, may just have to order one after pay day.

Then on to speakers. Any advice appreciated here as well.
It's a vx220 so nothing flash, I beleive I need 6.5" jobies, and was thinking about adding some tweeters in the corner of the dash, easy to do, I hear people talking about cross overs and the likes?!? Sorry, I know very little.

Don't know about the width of the doors of the VX200, but watch out so you don't buy to deep speakers (that may fit a regular car no problem, but are to big in your VX200 door).

Oh and you could get very good speakers with tweeters "on" them (sony xplod for example), and they work great without having to install something seperate.

Edit: just saw you had a VX200 instead of a VX220! Door depth will prob be no problem then.

Surely if you got the same speakers as in the elise they should fit decent quality as well. Their alpine somethings. If it's something your interested in I could have a look for markings

My stereo has USB and an "MP3" input - the USB connection will do USB and iPod but the MP3 input (a 3.5mm jack) has proven useful for running things like my phone or portable DAB through it. It has uses, but not many....
