Congratulations to the utter pr1ck of a truck driver, given 300 metres of clear view in front of him decided not to slow down and drove straight over a family of ducks crossing a slip road leading towards the A64 near Bishopthorpe, 13:00 this afternoon.
Yellow 40 footer, didn't get reg or owner.
Total wker.
No excuse valid.
Very slow moving with little or no traffic behind or on the opposite side of the road.
Cars on opposite side slowed and stopped for them, no worries.

Straight over them.
Totally uneccessary.
Tosser.

I'm with you. It wouldn't have taken much to slow down, or stop. It's not uncommon at all here to see ducks, and geese stopping highway traffic to cross the road. It helps having highways that aren't that busy, but still... It doesn't take much.

I could have predicted an alternative thread, cock of a truck driver stopped suddenly resulting in fender bender.

What, despite the OP saying there was plenty of room?

If I had thought for a moment that could have been the case I would have said so.
There was plenty of room, the truck was moving slowly, had a couple of hundred metres of clear view/room.
I work in Oil and Gas, and am used to critical assessments of safety situations: this did not fall into that category in any way - simply blind stupidity / carelessness.
I have seen plenty of motorists in similar situations, including lorries / vans etc slow or stop.
But this was so blatant.

I was on the A3 once heading back to London and just before it turns back into 2 lanes and there is a 40 camera I saw 2 Jeeps stopped and having some road rage fit through the windows. Thought nothing of it and went round them and there was a line of ducklings following its mother across the A3. I obviously stopped as did everyone else, wasn't really busy. Anyone who runs animals over on purpose is a real tt.

I would have followed the f*cker and had a word, and then report him to RSPC and gone to court to support the prosecution furious

The will get his punishment at the pearly gates.

I once hit someone's dog in my old Defender, just ran out in front of me, i braked but hit it,i'l never forgot the blood covered collie whilst i carried it into the farm yard. Honestly messed me up for a while.

Just emphasises what i think of truck drivers, seen so many examples of bad driving recently.
