Audi R8 Hot Rod Ad

A few months back some of the Hot Rod guys lent there cars to Audi to film there new ad which is on TV this week. See it here...

It was filmed in the Excel centre.

There is some debate on the Hot Rod boards about the impression this gives to the public about Hot Rods. Ranging from people will want to own the Rods rather than the Audi as they look more exciting to it shows rods as unsafe and dangerous. I was wondering what non-rodders who are into cars think?

I saw the ad on tv last night. It made me want to buy a hot rod. It also made me think that cars should never be painted white. Ever.

BBH have made a beautiful advert which completely fails to sell the product. Ooops.

On the other hand … maybe the core audience they’re aiming for don’t actually like cars all that much and just want shiny things with recognisable badges on the front. In which case it might work, sadly.

Indeed, some of the cars are stock cars, but they are also Hot Rods, seen here at the Hot Rod Hayride last year...

No they arn't, they are Stock Cars, the fact they were at the Hayride doesn't make them Hot Rods.

But, if they had had some real decent UK Hot Rods in the ad the Audi would have been lost

I'd cheerfully have any of the cars in that ad although I wouldn't have a white R8.

If you think there is a single definition of a Hot Rod then go ahead and argue, to me they are Hot Rods. They are also Stock Cars. It's a fairly pointless argument though that has been done to death and never gets a consensus answer

The ad has a bang ghey alright but the R8 Spyder looks amazing, so much better than the hardtop but there is a serious bang of Gallardo of it. I like the Gallardo but both are just looking the same
