I am just in the process of buying a new car and the HPI check has come back with the following warnings -

The VIN is not registered with the VRM supplied
Interest registered against a previous plate
VRM currently recorded as having outstanding finance
The V5 registration document issue date does not match the information provided by the DVLA

The car had a private plate on the car up until the 28th of Jan this year, could that explain some of the warnings?

The seller told me about the outstanding finance and we have agreed it will be cleared before I buy, I was aware before the HPI check so he wasn't trying to hide it. I have 2 options here, he can clear it and get a letter from the finance people, or I can take the money off the purchase price and clear it myself so I get the letter to say it's been cleared and I am sure it's been done.

What about the other warnings?

Sounds to me like someone has not transferred the plate over properly, I also wonder whether finance is still outstanding.
