St Georges day is almost upon us and the England soccer team will be out of the world cup by the second match so what better way to show ones patriotism than buying a cheap tacky flag on a plastic stick and atatching it to your cars window?

Well if you don't want to kill a biker DON'T buy one. Last world cup one of these flags that had fallen off a car blew into the front wheel of a friend of mines bike thowing him off and the bike landed on his neck; killing him instantly.

If you have an IQ higher than a drain pipe then don't buy one of these stupid, crappy, chavy, insults to our country, pollyester fabric made in a Chinese sweat shop tack. Support the team by watching the game or be patriotic by not getting pissed and showing the rest of the world that England is a country full of alcoholic tts, yobs and hooligans.

As the culteral ambassadors to the United States Beavis and Butthead once said....
"Errrrr, England. Isn't that the island where everything sucks?"
"Errrrm, yeah. Hee-hee. Hee-hee it sucks!". Let's do something about it.

Realistly; England will never win the world cup while the Premiership is rigged and full of foreign players. So do something possitive to support our green and pleasant land rather than something idiotic.

While that is a tragic story i dont see how a cheap plastic flag pole that i can snap with my hand threw him off his bike.

But you know when the football is coming up when the crap goes on sale in every corner shop

I have yet to see the OP post a 'non-moaning' thread. All these stories of your mates, it's crazy...

Onto the subject matter, as a Scotland fan I agree, people shouldn't be flying these little flags hehe

Very sad but if they really were that bad, Elf and Safety would have stepped in by now.

Personally, i don't think people should buy them because you end up looking like the bellend of the ball.

Sadly, that's going to be easier said than done.

It wasn't the plasic pole it was the Polyester flag that was blown into the front wheel from the draft of an HGV going in the opposite direction.

Thanks for the mixed replies and the usual grammer police. I thought I had nothing better to do with my time. hehe

Bit sad really that people are ashamed of the flag rather than proud of it - not really aimed at you, I know a lot of people feel this way.

The polyester flag locked the front wheel of a bike? I call shenanigans. Crisp bags, carrier bags, chestnut tree leaves... all major hazards.

considering I hit a starling at 130mph on my bike and nothing happened I call bullst, unless you' can prove it with a news report.

I've seen rags lock up inking rollers on a large printing press, the press being more powerful than an entire motoGP grid didn't slow down but the rollers the rag wrapped around stopped dead then caught fire with the friction involved, so while the OP's story is unlikely it isn't without some merit. The rollers in question are about 100kg with a surface speed of about 150mph.
I see your point, but is a printig press not a set of faces under pressure so a rag would get caught and held by the pressure rather than on a bike where it's all fairly open.

I could be talking rubbish though, as I have no experience or printing presses whereas you clearly do smile

I'm assuming the flag got caught between the disc and calliper or wrapped around the spindle, though I'd have thought the latter would be unlikely given the size of thse flags.

I'm not saying it's gospel but I'm not dismissing the idea either.
I dont see how they can be much more dangerous than a plastic bag or other plastic rubbish that I see on the the roads every day.

If the OP's mate was killed in such an accident then he was very unlucky.

Around my way an england flag used to be a sign that you were a BNP/NF/C18 supporter, but If I see one on a car now it just a sign that reads "possible mouthbreather ahead"

I don't think anyone here has said they are ashamed of the English flag. Just that you look like a pillock with a £2.50 bit of plastic sticking out of your windows

Well I spent ages last night putting up a flag in our garden ready for this morning.

Seems I'm the only pillock who bothered actually - not one other being flown frown
