Looks quite nice actually, is it cheap or is that the going rate?

My dad had a 1.6L Montego that I learnt to drive in and then proceeded to wreck once I passed - it wasn't too bad at the time. Unless you've driven one I don't think you're allowed to comment!

I lost my cherry in the back of my Dad's Montego Estate 1.6L. It had electric windows, and an electric sunroof. At the time, I thought I was Lord of the Manor. At my first full time job after Uni, we had a Montego 2.0 Estate for lugging around computers and the various kit.
Comfy seats that were totally unsuited to being used in a car. Steering that felt so incredibly remote from the front wheels it was scary. Reasonably torqey engine that was rough as f
k.
Utterly, utterly horrible cars. In no way are they sexy.
Only the turbos that are vaguely interesting.

Well i have driven one so I can comment:
when I was an apprentice one of the bosses had one & it was rubbish.
What put it into perspective was when it was stolen & written off (imaginatively they crashed it into a small tree which was uprooted, they then put the tree through the sunroof & set fire to it.) he got a Honda accord 16v to replace it,& to a 17 yr old that thing felt so fast & well built it was a revalation.my nova sr never felt quite the same after that.

My dad had an 1986 Montego 1.6L (moonraker blue) as a company car from new for a while until it had a coming together with a lorry and was supposedly written off. Funnily enough however, he was given a replacement one and the first appeared repaired some months later for sale in the local Ford garage. First car I remember and at the time as far as I was concerned was the best car in the world! Feel quite nostalgic about them and would def consider this one if I had the time. Would prefer an MG Turbo in white with a digital dash and the proper blocky looking MG alloys though (SO 80s!).

Don't see many these days.Looks quite nice actually, is it cheap or is that the going rate?
I had a Maestro 2.0 EFI for a number of years. Gave it hell and thrashed it everywhere. It was great fun, more fun than my brothers 2.0 Celica GT and faster than a mates modded 2.9 V6 Sierra. Also very reliable, failed electric fan was the only issue, which was a £25 and 45 min fix.
