"Mr Saunders, who designed the Atom sports car, paid 235,000 pounds for a timber 1930s chalet and submitted plans to demolish it and replace it with a new hut in 2007."

Doesn't look too bad to me, if he paints it white to blend in with the others it'll be fine. Bit of jealousy from his neighbours I think smile

Yup... It's hardly a huge monstrosity. It's a wooden shed, just like the other wooden sheds in the picture.

I really don't see the issue here, if the neighbours want to complain they should be complaining to the council not anyone else. The planning went through and at that point the neighbours had the right to put their views forward, IMO it's their fault for not paying attention.

It's got approval.

Lucky he's not in NSW - the Land and Environment Court would probably overturn the approval.

quote "West Dorset District Council gave the plans the go-ahead as they believed it would be of a similar size to the previous one."

So why have a go at the guy who owns it, surely the locals should be directing their protest at the local council and whoever is in control of planning permission applications.

I cant see the issue myself and it strikes me as another blatent i cant afford one of those so why should he be able to have one moments.

That said over £200k for a wooden hut...

And would the builder be reimbursed for costs if they did so? After all they would start building with approval.

When you're wealthy enough to piss on a pile of £50 notes you buy £40,000 sheds to show off your wealth.

Southwold, the home of the rich and the famous. Who knows, maybe Chris Evans has bought it to house a collection of white 1:18 scale Ferarris?

That is just an old, stty shed on a piece of land that is in constant movement.

People who are rich enough to buy something as ludicrous as that are hardly the types to sit on the beach in a deckchair with a knotted hanky on their heads IMO!!

Madness.

As mentioned above. Head to Southwold, place is full if very wealthy people sitting in beach huts with hankies on their heads. Beautiful place but some of the hob nobbers have to be seen to be believed.

Indeed, wander around the town over a lunchtime every other local is walking around, in bright sunshine may I add, in a 'rugger' top and a pair of Hunter wellies. Ridiculous obtuse planks the lot of them.

I rather like the new one. The rest are just indulging in self-aggrandising snobbery.

Why is this in the Mail now, it was in one of the grown up papers absolutely ages ago. What the article does not point out is the chalet as shown is not that much bigger than its neighbours but I think it has some kind of transformers style roof that makes it much bigger
