Driving through the center of Paris (in a TVR).....
Discussion
Good idea, or bad idea?
My wife has done a quick RAC route planner for our trip to see some friends in France, and the short route takes us right through the middle - with only a 45 minute excess on the journey time.
I'm happy to drive through any UK city, so will Paris be a good experience?

Have done it a few times, with a paper map on my own circa 1997 (avoid), and with TomTom.
It's a little more structured than London Roads (more of a grid pattern), but do take the central route rather than all round the periferique. Take it steady and admire the architecture, it's fab.

I wouldnt do it if you paid me. A horrible place to drive.
I suspect though that the difference in attitudes here is the difference between those of us who live out there and those just on a holiday and so the driving down is a large part of the holiday. The drive down when you live out there you want to get over as quickly as possiblemso you can get to the pool!
