Whilst I have been stuck in the US, Adrian Flux renewed my insurance on my SORN car without asking or even notifying me and they have not sent me any paperwork or even a new insurance certificate.

I suppose I'll get the usual old crap of how it was "on risk" and I owe them "x" amount but where do I stand, should I get a full refund?

I know they are about 25-30% more expensive than Classic Line and A-Plan.

I was going to renew it when I got back but my wife noticed from a CC statement that they had taken the money without asking a couple of weeks or so ago.

I realise they renew automatically if they do not hear back after a renewal invitation but to not even bother to contact me with a quote, it could have been any price.

That kinda guarantees them business I suppose, yes I see now rolleyes

And it's OK to not have an insurance certificate?

I thought it's still needed for VED renewal, or is the info available to DVLA on line so no certificate required now?

The small print does say they can renew automatically if they wish.

It also says they write to me to tell me how much it will cost before they do so.

Unless I am mistaken and it is for new policies only, you should have a 14 day 'cooling off' period so may be able to cancel within that time - if its not too late! Might be charged for the time on risk though.
